Suraj is a professional tabla artist, Indian classical music teacher, and handcrafted instrument expert who has dedicated over 20 years to performing, teaching, and preserving India’s musical heritage.
His life is woven into the rhythm of the Ganga, the sounds of classical instruments, and the vibrant cultural tapestry of Kashi.

Suraj began learning tabla as a young boy under respected teachers and musicians in Varanasi. Immersed in the city’s temples, ghats, music schools, and cultural gatherings, he developed a deep understanding of rhythm, raga, melody, and the spiritual essence of Hindustani classical music.

He later went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Music from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) — one of India’s most respected institutions for classical arts.
During his advanced training, Suraj had the honor of studying under and learning from the legendary Ustad Zakir Hussain, whose influence shaped Suraj’s technique, discipline, and artistic philosophy.

Over the years, he has:
